For a Cubs rotation that faced significant upheaval this winter, an effective Arrieta could go a long way.Oakland Athletics face coverings

The computer projections are forecasting better results in 2021 despite their offseason moves; Pecota has the Cubs with the third-best offense in the NL. Moncada reports that he's feeling good, physically, after what he went through in 2020 and that he's ready for a full slate of 162 games, more than that, actually, considering the White Sox championship expectations.

The only F grade the system assigned a team's offseason was right here, as the Indians' end-of-2020 roster projected as nearly 12 wins better than the one with which they will begin the 2021 season. The rotation should be good, but not as good as it would have been with Carrasco. The offense figures to be average, but with Lindor, it would have been more than that. The team defense is below average. With Lindor, it would have projected as above average. The end result is what you see: a middling team that has enough league-average talent to make a run at a wild card. But with last year's team intact, Cleveland won titles in 6% of my simulations. Pache has the raw ability to hit .275 with 20-25 homers, but his plate discipline and approach have never fully tapped into his upside. A reasonable expectation is for him to play most of the year in the big leagues and produce fringe-average offensive numbers with a non-trivial amount of stolen bases, but in this area of the list, playing most of the season and having upside is about all you can ask for.Washington Nationals face coverings

"I guess anything is possible. I just don't see -- unless the league comes off of that stance of expanded playoffs-for-DH -- that that will happen. It's been the M.O. of the league to wait until the last second to propose a deal. You saw that with spring training, trying to delay it a week and a half, two weeks before camp was supposed to start. It's like alright, it's kinda too late at this point -- guys have booked houses and made plans to go there. Chicago Cubs face coverings
